We are coming into Winter, it is getting cold, but the hot water system or air conditioner has stopped working, there are heavy restrictions on all movements thanks to COVID-19, what do I do?

Don’t stress. Our trades are considered essential services. They are ready to help and prepared to deal with the additional challenges Coronavirus has placed on all of us.

Businesses and individuals are legally obligated to follow the NSW Public Health Guidelines, practise good hygiene and safe distances. You should check to see if your tradesperson has a COVID-19 policy or guidelines their workers must follow and know they cover your concerns. Many will offer contactless payments, wear gloves and masks, and take any other precaution they can. Our tradies want to be working to stay in a job, so it is a safe bet that they will do what they can to prevent the spread of any illness and help keep themselves as well as their customers safe.

Just as a tradesperson should not visit your home if they have been sick, you should also not let them in if you or another person in your household has been sick too. If someone in your household has contracted COVID-19, you’ll have to wait until they have been cleared of the virus before any trades enter your home. You must advise your tradesperson if there is anyone in self-isolation, quarantine or if there has been a positive case of COVID-19 in your household so as they can proceed accordingly as per their company policies.

When common sense, good hygiene and safe distances are practised, you can be confident to say that our tradespeople will be there to help us when needed both in the immediate and long term future. And that’s a good thing.
